History

Masking tape was invented in 1925 by 3M Richard Drew. Drew expressed dismay at the autobody workers as they removed the butcher's paper they had tapped on the cars they were painting. Peels off some of the strong adhesive paint they just applied to the tape. Touching the damaged areas increased their costs. Drew noticed the use of lightly adhesive tape.
